HIV positive pharmacist gets 15 years for sodomising minor

Taita-Taveta, Kenya: A HIV positive pharmacist from Taita-Taveta County will serve 15 years imprisonment for sodomising a primary schoolboy.

Ezra Mdamu Mwatela, 40, who pleaded guilty to the charges before Voi Senior Principal Magistrate Samuel Wahome, is accused of intentionally committing the indecent act with a minor on March 24, this year at a dispensary in Rong'e Juu location, Mwatate district.

In the second count, he is accused of knowingly sodomising the minor, an act which he knew was likely to cause HIV infection.

"The accused is a well known HIV patient who is on ARVs. In the medical history, the complainant sodomised the accused on two occasions," the prosecutor told the court.
