Security officers in Laikipia East District have recovered 26 head of cattle stolen by rustlers on Tuesday at Ontulili village in Buuri District. Umande chief, Wang’ombe Wanjau said the recovery was made at Mugumo village after heavy gun fighting between the rustlers and security officers.
Although no injuries were reported during the Tuesday night confrontation, a vehicle belonging to Timau Community Policing was badly damaged by stray bullets. No arrest was made, and it is believed the thieves escaped towards Nginyei area in Ndaiga division where they stole a sheep and slaughtered it.
