Traders are counting losses after fire broke out in Kasina, Mavoko sub-county in Machakos County on Saturday evening.
The fire is believed to have started at a tailoring shop before spreading to the nearby business houses.
Area residents told The Standard that there have been many fire incidences in the area and blamed Mavoko Sub County Fire brigade for their delayed response leading property loss.

"This is not the first time they have delayed to respond to a fire incident in this area,” said Stephen Mwangangi.
Mavoko residents were angered by their late arrival and even tried to block the fire brigade team from accessing the scene. They wanted them to go back.
The police arrived at the scene to restore calm and fire brigade team was able to put out the fire.
