Kenya Cup finalists Kabras Sugar will be eying a perfect stat to the 2021 Kenya Cup season when they welcome newbies MMUST RFC at the Kakamega Showground on Saturday.
Fresh from winning the Sisimka Charity Cup finals, Kabras will be seeking to kick start the new season on a high as they seek to win their second Kenya Cup title this year.
Speaking to the Standard Sports, Kabras, new head coach Mzingaye Nyathi said he expects his players to approach the match with cool heads, calmness on the field with hard work and a tad bit of exploration.
Nyathi believes MMUST are a strong side slowly rising through the ranks of rugby in the western region and approaching the game with caution will be key to collecting maximum points.
“The match against MMUST is going to be challenging for both teams, the reasons will vary, but there's an excitement for having 'homeboys' to play against.”

“Some of the Kabras players attend classes with MMUST players. They know each other well and am looking forward to the match,” Nyathi said.
Despite missing some players through injury, Nyathi believes player management and rotation strategy will be key moving forward as the league progresses.
“Injuries are an inherent part of rugby and can be expected anytime. We tried our best to prepare the boys for the season ahead and we have a few niggles, nothing hectic, fortunately,” said the Zimbabwean.
Kabras will be facing MMUST for the second time in the competitive competition after MMUST defeated them 24-5 during the 2019 Kakamega 7s
