Get your sexy back, By Caroline Makana

The round face shape exhibits the natural beauty, health, splendour and energy of youth. If you have a round face, you will also find you have fullness around and below your cheekbones.

People with round faces also tend to have wide hairlines and their necks often seem short.

Although the softness of a round face can be attra2tive, the key to enhancing this face shape is by creating angles and vertical lines. This can be done through your choice of hairstyle and clever application of make-up; it gives the illusion of a more balanced face shape.

Your objective: To create more definition. Flatter your round face by creating an oval appearance that will lift your facial features and lengthen the face shape.

Make-up

Foundation : Ensure that you highlight the areas just above the cheeks, as well as the area just below the eyes. It is also important to use dark coloured make-up to enhance the areas where it will be placed. Dark colours will draw the attention away from the sides of the face, and allow attention to be placed more on the inside components of the face.

Eyebrows: Keep your eyebrows as straight as possible and don’t let the outer corner droop. Stay away from a rounded brow shape. Instead, consider an angle brow shape.

Eyeliner and eye shadow: Line your eyes with dark-coloured eyeliner and blend this in. You want a wide, softly smudged line to provide more emphasis. Apply deep shades of eye-shadow to the outside section or your eye socket. Do this in diagonal lines that slant up towards the outer corners of your eyes.

Blusher: Apply blusher in a straight line along the cheekbones.

Lipstick: Create a wider, slightly narrower mouth when lining your lips with a dark shade of lip-liner. Apply a dab of gloss to the centre of your bottom lip. This will draw the focus inwards to luscious looking lips.

Top tip: You will want to add length to the face when applying make-up and draw attention away from the well-rounded and full cheek area. Use a highlighter along the top of the cheekbone to create angles.

Hairstyle: You have many options. Find a style that you enjoy. There is no point selecting the ‘the perfect hairstyle’. The best hairstyles for you ought to be layered styles rather than straight ones with a fringe. Go for styles that add length under the chin, and ones that keep the sides of your hair short closer to the face.

SPECTACLES: Your face has curved lines with the width and length in the same proportions and no angles. To make it appear thinner and longer, try angular narrow eyeglass frames to lengthen the face, a clear bridge that widens the eyes, and frames that are wider than they are deep, such as a rectangular shape.

EARRINGS: Choose earrings with geometric shapes of squares and triangles. Avoid earrings that are broad and long as this can bring more attention to your face. Very small earrings should also be avoided.
