Conjestina Achieng', the former Kenyan boxing champion, has made remarkable progress in her recovery and is now giving back to those who need help, just as she once did.

After battling through the cycles of addiction and spending time in rehabilitation centers, she has found a strong support system, particularly from former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko, whose unwavering assistance has been instrumental in her journey.

Reflecting on her recovery, Conjestina shared her gratitude for Sonko's support. She opened up about her experiences and how relapse, though difficult, is a part of the healing process.

"People should know that relapse is a normal thing. I believe Kimani will also get well just as Eunice did, and is now working. Everything is possible in the eyes of God, everything is going to be okay. I trust in God and believe everything will be okay on my side," she said with a calm and hopeful tone.

In a video shared by Mike Sonko, Conjestina provided an update on her progress, offering hope to those struggling with addiction or mental health challenges. She emphasized that mental health recovery is a journey-one that includes medication, patience, and the understanding that anyone can heal.

"Mental health is a journey whereby you will be going through medication, and it's a journey for everybody. Anyone can suffer the consequences of it, but healing is always possible," she expressed.

Despite still being in recovery, Conjestina has found a new purpose in her life. She is now working alongside the Mama Amina Rescue Team, where she has taken on the role of a bodyguard, ensuring that women under medical care receive the attention they need.

"I take care of the women being treated here, making sure they've bathed, eaten, and that their health is okay. Whenever there are rescue cases outside, I'll go with them," she explained.

Mike Sonko, who has supported Conjestina throughout her recovery, proudly shared the progress she's made. He spoke of her full recovery after relapsing, stating, "The God of another chance has done wonders. Conjestina Achieng, AKA Conjee, has fully recovered. This time around, she won't be going back to the village. She'll be working at the Mombasa Women's Rehabilitation Empowerment Center with a salary. We are proud of her, and her story is a testament to the fact that recovery is possible, even after setbacks."
