Zedrick Yugileo aka DJ Zeddy had always wanted to be an aeronautical engineer since his childhood. However, inspiration from watching other DJs rock the crowd and create amazing energy on the dancefloor stirred him to shift his career to deejaying.
Briefly introduce yourself
I was born in Naivasha and raised in different parts of Kenya. I'm currently the Nation Media Group resident Dj. I also do club gigs and events in different parts of the country.
Tell us your career journey so far
My DJ career has been a wild ride; I started spinning tracks at local parties and events 12 years ago, and over time, I got the chance to play at bigger venues and festivals. It's been an incredible journey, and I'm so grateful for the opportunities I've had to share my music with people.
Did you always want to be a DJ?
To be honest, being a DJ wasn't my original plan, but music has always been a big part of my life. Originally I wanted to be an engineer (aeronautical) at first didn't think of djing as a career then I found inspiration from watching other DJs rock the crowd and create amazing energy on the dance floor. Seeing the joy and excitement in people's faces made me want to do the same and bring happiness through music.
Who has been your support system so far?
My support system has been amazing! My family (Sisters and brother) have always been there for me, believing in my dreams. My friends and fans cheering me on; their love and encouragement have been a constant source of motivation for me to keep pushing and make myself better.
One unforgettable experience in your career?
One unforgettable experience that I'll always cherish was when I had the chance to perform at a music festival. The energy of the crowd was electrifying, and the connection I felt with the audience was indescribable. It was a moment that reminded me why I love what I do so much.
What sets you a part as an individual and DJ?
What sets me apart as an individual is my passion for music and my commitment to creating an unforgettable experience for everyone who listens to my sets and for those attending my gigs. I love connecting with people through music and bringing them joy through the power of beats and melodies.
What else do you do other than being a DJ?
Besides being a DJ, I enjoy exploring other creative outlets. I love photography and capturing moments through my lens. It's a way for me to express my creativity in a different way and document memories. I also love nature. Being an aeronautical engineer by profession, I love things to do with aerospace and other technical stuff.
Your next plan for your career?
I am m always looking for ways to expand my career. Open a dj academy to train and nature upcoming djs. I also want to collaborate with other talented artists, explore different genres, and maybe even produce my own tracks someday.
