Veteran Mombasa based singer, Mwanaisha Abdalla aka Nyota Ndogo and her elder brother Juma Tutu of the famous Juma Tutu Band seems to have called a truce and buried the hatchet after years of sibling rivalry.
Announcing the news of the squashed beef on Instagram, the popular Watu na Viatu singer explained that she and her elder brother sat down and ironed out their differences.
“Do you people kumbuka my brother Juma Tutu? Haya vita vyetu viliisha tuliongea na tukayaweka mambo sawa kabisa,” she wrote.
Nyota Ndogo went on to give a shoutout to his band, “Sasa nawaomba mashabiki zangu kama munaangalia news sasaivi akikisha ni K24 TV maana sasaivi atakua live na band yake ndani ya news.”
Sibling rivalry
Nyota Ndogo and her brother fell out a few years ago after he reportedly threatened to stop her wedding. According to Juma, the singer’s decision to marry an older man, Danish lover Hanning Nielsen, went contrary to their family's customs.

Taking to social media in a series of posts to ‘expose’ her family, she lamented that she had had enough of her mother and brother meddling in her affairs.
“Kurudi ndani nikamkuta mume wangu amekasirika amenipiga jicho baya ame turn red nikamuuliza unanini mbona gafla umegeuka? Akaniambia you know. Nikamuuliza i know what? Akasema call a taxi we go to the hotel I want to book the next flight home yani anataka kurudi nyumbani kwao.
“Nikamuuliza what is the problem yeye akashikilia you know. Nikamuita juma na mama nikamuuliza kuna nini mbona huyu kageuka? Akanijibu hivi, ‘nimemwambia ukija kuona famili lazima utoe 200K nimemwambia atoe tena mwambie atoe ama nitampokonya simu wallet yake saa na kila kitu alicho nacho,” she narrated.
The crooner added that she was afraid to talk about her family at first because of fear of being on blogs.
“Kitambo nikianza mziki nilikua muoga sana. Nilikua naogopa sana magazeti. Nilikua nikiskia nipo kwenye gazeti naanza kulia maana najua nimetukanwa sana umo ndani. Hamuezi kuamini familia yangu ilitake advantage of that. Walijua huyu anaogopa sana media kwaivyo tukimwambia chochote atafanya,” she continued.
Stepping up
Nyota Ndogo went on to marry Hanning Nielsen a decision that strained her relationship with her family, even more, resulting to them not speaking for some time.

Addressing the feud in a recent interview, Juma explained that he had to step up to mend their relationship.
“My friends, it is common to hear, “No family is perfect”. During my quiet moments of introspection, I chose to make amends with my sister, after a long-standing family feud. Sometimes, relationships need a hero - someone who makes the first move, chooses to be the bigger person, step up and start the healing.
“I choose to share with you this story because it was in the public domain, to begin with. I am being candid about it since I am the firstborn in our family and I want to lead by example, as a family man, bandleader and a big brother. It is okay at times, to make mistakes and choose lasting bonds than burning bridges,” said Juma.
