A famous city pastor has warned men intending to undergo vasectomy to shelve the idea all together.
His comments came in the wake of the World Vasectomy Day that was marked between April 23 and 26. The day is aimed at promoting vasectomy as a safe and effective family planning alternative.
Pastor Godffrey Migiwi of House of Hope claimed that vasectomy is satanic and should be avoided at all cost.
“Even though all sins are equal, others like vasectomy are new sins in the world. In the Bible, anyone whose testicles were crushed or whose male organs were cut off were never admitted to the assembly of the Lord,” he said.
Migiwi went on to claim that withdrawal method as means of family planning was equally wrong — and that God has never approved of it. Giving an example from the Bible, the preacher explained that: “In the Bible, Ona who was told to sleep with his brother’s wife and fulfill his duties as brother-in-law, but chose to release his semen on the ground was killed because of this act.”
According to the preacher, fertilising a woman is by God’s power.
“That is why God created safe and unsafe days so men could control conception, but not to use withdrawal method or even some sort of protection,” he said.
He added that, “Vasectomy makes men randy because they are sure that what comes out will not make a baby. On the other hand, it can lead to an increase STIs because people become careless.”
The pastor challenged men: “Tell me, what happens if your family, God forbid, is wiped out in some calamity, and there you are, alone. What happens when you get another wife who will naturally want to have her children?”
In November, 2016, at the Kenya National Theatre, 74 men underwent the procedure. This year, 100 Kenyan men were offered free vasectomy to mark Vasectomy Day.
Vasectomy is a surgical procedure for male sterilisation. The male vas deferens are cut and tied or sealed to prevent the release of sperms and thereby prevent fertilisation.
