Kamba women have challenged Ruiru MP Esther Gathogo to a stripping competition.
The challenge by women from Machakos County through their leader Margaret Mwikali came after Esther threatened to strip in public after Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama allegedly attacked Devolution CS Anne Waiguru at a recent Cord rally at Uhuru Park. The rally was meant to address the ongoing teachers’ strike in the country.
“I heard Muthama say that CS Anne Waiguru got her ministerial position because of her closeness to the President. No! Women don’t have to be intimate with men to qualify for respectable government positions.”
Esther further said that: “If he (Muthama) thinks that we do that to be rewarded with top positions, and that women are different, I would strip and show him that we are not any different.”
And in an attempt to make her threats seem real, Esther reportedly made as if to lift up her dress, prompting women who were present at the gathering to hold her back.

The women from the eight sub counties of Machakos allied to Wiper party dismissed Esther’s threats as hot air, saying that Kamba women are naturally beautiful and have brought up great leaders who have helped to shape the country’s success.
Internal CS Joseph Nkaissery was not spared from the salvo fired by the Kamba women who asked that he first clear his name for alleged hate speech before rushing to order the office of the Director of Public Prosecution to probe senator Muthama’s remarks during the Cord rally.
“Interior Cabinet secretary Joseph Nkaissery has issues with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) concerning hate speech when he spoke in Kajiado. We want DPP Keriako Tobiko to tell us what became of the file concerning Nkaissery?” Mwikali persisted.
Nkaissery had reportedly demanded that non-Masaais should not contest seats in Kajiado and other Maa-speaking counties, warning them of unspecified consequences ahead of the 2013 general elections. DPP Keriako Tobiko ordered that he be investigated and prosecuted.
Senator Muthama flanked by Cord leader Raila Odinga appeared at the CID offices to record a statement for allegedly issuing inflammatory remarks at the rally, but refused to record a statement, after his lawyer claimed he had not been told why he had been summoned.
Calls by some people, particularly from the Jubilee side, to have Muthama apologise have not bore any fruit.
