After a photo of CORD leader’s torn shoe was published by The Standard, there was uproar from many Kenyans. While some could not understand why Raila Odinga even had a torn shoe in his possession, others declared that Baba was starting a new fashion trend or swag as they call it. Other Kenyans just dismissed it as a normal oversight that happens to all of us.

This has also raised heated debate on whether the husband, the wife or team of assistants is responsible for the man’s presentation.

From cheering RAO as a fighter for the rights of the hustler with such comments:

Julian Bosibori: Even Jesus himself wen was fighting for the world he never used shoe. Baba go on. Jesus was abused, stoned, but he stood up and said "God 4giv them for they know nothing.

Åbsh?r F?r? Cadde: Proof that he's working hard not stealing people's money to make his own luxury life!

Almasi Masinde: Ako kazini, chapa kazi baba. He cares about other people than himself.

To celebrating the new trend being set;

McLare Erick: Let me be clear to kiuks ,RAO is verry rich ,iyo ni swagg tu. He owns ,specture international, Royal city hotels,ili gas mnatumia kupika mostly wakikuyu, molases plant, Raila Odinga university in kisumu etc

Kiptui Sang: its another fason(fashion) trend omera but do i say yawah

And dismissing this as a normal faux pas

Beattie Nganga: hehe..it happens to even the best of us

Thufu Wa Thenge: My shoe my choice

Jacob Tata: Normal, it can happen to you on your way without realizing.

Kavoi Geterude: There is that shoe that one cannot part with, no matter what. Otherwise how can you explain it He is way beyond financially

This incident is reminiscent of the late Cabinet Minister’s torn sock fiasco and Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero’s torn sock.

The opposition leader was however not fazed by his shoe and went ahead to deliver his speech at St John’s Everlasting Gospel Church in Imara Daima.
