A man who was slapped by controversial Pastor James Ng'ang'a is reportedly suing the clergyman on allegations of emotional distress and assault.
In the viral video, he stated that he did not receive any blessing but rather unexpected slaps. He added that his life might be in danger since he was willing to push the case further until he was compensated appropriately.
"Mimi sikureceive baraka, nilireceive makofi. Ata saa hii maisha yangu iko hatarini na sijui uyu mtu atanifanyia nini. Ifuatiliwe na iwe kesi kwasababu vile alinipiga anafaa anilipe," he said.
The congregant shared that Neno Evangelism Centre founder only gave him a suit and a pair of shoes and nothing more for compensation or apology. He identified himself as Willy Mwangi and stated that he was from Dandora, Nairobi. Mwangi said that he works as a hawker selling coffee and fruits such as watermelons and pineapples in the streets of Nairobi.
"Alinipea suti na viatu ndio watu waseme amenihonga. Hakuna kitu ingine alinipatia. Jina yangu ni Willy Mwangi na mimi ni mkaazi wa Dandora. Nafanya kazi ya kuuza kahawa na matunda pale Dandora," Willy shared.
The fruit vendor stated that the whole incident affected him a lot both spiritually and mentally. He argued that the 'Komanda' should have inquired why he was sleeping instead of attacking him randomly in church.
"Hiyo maneno haikunifurahisha kabisa kwa sababu alinipiga makofi bila kuniuliza mbona nimelala. Sasa hiyo maneno imenitatiza kwa roho yangu sana," he said.
Willy Mwangi implied that he could not sell his goods without customers and members of the public identifying and mocking him over the embarrassing ordeal that went viral on social media.
"Hii ni kwa sababu siwezi uza matunda ama kahawa juu watu wananichekelea juu ya io maneno," the man said.
The man claimed that Pastor Ng'ang'a had invited him to church earlier this year after the video began trending and allegedly pressured him into making certain statements, warning that if he refused, the pastor would take action against him.
"Hakuna kitu ingine alinipia na ile wiki nilikuwa huko aliniambia niseme iyo maneno nilisema ama angejua kila angenifanyia," Mwangi said.
Captured in another video during a church service, the man stepped forward, boldly declaring that the now-infamous blow had changed his life for the better.
"Haina shida, niko tayari... no problem. Nichapwe na injili iendelee," he had told the stunned congregation. ("No problem at all, I'm ready... Let me be slapped so the gospel can continue.")
