Nairobi County government will offer free parking near all mosques in the City today starting at 12 pm for two and half hours.
Governor Johnson Sakaja says the waiver will facilitate Muslims attending prayers.
Speaking during Iftar at City Hall on Wednesday, Sakaja said the directive will apply only to those going to mosques warning parking attendants from using the window to make money from parking slots.
''I direct that no clamping of vehicles at that time,'' Sakaja stated.
He asked donors to support the less fortunate in the city. ''Nairobi people should embrace one another regardless of race, ethnicity, status or religious leaning so that we can realise our dream of creating a City of hope, dignity and opportunity for all,'' Sakaja said.
The governor promised to ensure boreholes are drilled around mosques in informal settlements to ensure sanitation is maintained.
''We need to see enough water around our places of worship in slums and I believe Robow will be able to deliver the mandate. He has to oversee the boreholes drilling program and allocate about 20 to Mosques,'' he said.
