After missing their target last season, Kenya’s Geoffrey Ochieng’ and Mbaruk Salema of Tanzania battle for top honours in the fight for Universal Boxing Organization super bantamweight title at Charter Hall, Nairobi on March 5.

The two boxers had a dry spell last season and each will be out to ensure the UBO super bantamweight title remains home.

Ochieng’ who is one of the most decorated super bantamweight boxers in the region starts favourite as the pro-boxing seasons picks up.

Without stating who the favorite is among the two boxers, the fight promoter Isaac Warui of Hemomax Promotions said he is out to satisfy the needs of the regional boxers after he narrowly missed to be a boxer.

“Initially, I was ambitious to be a boxer but circumstances turned around my fortunes not to be a boxer. Therefore, I decided to support boxing by sponsoring events,” he said.

There will be five curtain raiser fights in support of the epic fight between Ochieng and Saleman.

Out of the five fights, one is a female super flyweight fight between Jane Kavulani against Nicholine Achieng.

Other fights are the super welterweight between Alvin Omino against Dan Oluoch while the second fight pits Denvel Ochieng against Abdulnajab Adan in the super middleweight.

In the super flyweight, it will pit James Akahonya against James Mogem and the last fight is the super-welterweight fight between debutante Salim Mustapha against Kennedy Opiyo.
