Mesut Ozil has reportedly agreed a new deal at Arsenal. The German playmaker is out of contract at the end of the season but talks have been ongoing for some time.
Arsene Wenger was confident he would agree an extension and the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly had an effect.
According to BILD , Ozil has agreed the new contract at the Emirates and has been impressed with Arsenal's January transfer dealings.
They lost Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United but the deals for Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang have made him confident over the club's future.
Last week, the Arsenal boss said: "Our intention is to keep Ozil at the club, hopefully we will do that very soon.
"Not close enough to be optimistic and not far enough to be pessimistic. ‘The vibes I get from his commitment, his focus, his desire – he behaves like someone who is ready to commit.
"But after that negotiations are what they are. We are not close enough to tell you yes, he will do it."
It looks set to be a double celebration for Ozil following this summer's World Cup.
BILD also reports he will marry his girlfriend and former Miss Turkey Amine Gulse. Arsenal were on the brink of losing their talented stars and the departure of Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United may have been detrimental to team’s stability.
At some point, reports revealed that both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez were growing tired of life at Emirates Stadium, and that they were looking for transfers.
However, getting the German midfielder to sign a new contract would be a relief to Wenger being that he is clocking his prime years as a player and his contribution to the team will be more pertinent. This may be vital in the future campaigns.
