A former Kisii University student has alleged that he was suspended from the institution due to his designation and alliance to Opposition party, ODM.
Donald Miguda aka ODM claims the varsity’s council blindly arrived at the decision without giving him a fair hearing.
“My name is Ombonya Donald Miguda, abbreviated as ODM and that can’t change,” he says.
He adds that he is a strong supporter of the Opposition, but that shouldn’t have led to his suspension since everyone has a right to support any political party.
“Being referred to as ODM and my support for Raila did not augur well with the administration, but that shouldn’t have been the case,” he claimed.

He however states that his efforts to litigate the issue hit a rock due to financial constraints.
Miguda, alongside 41 others, were suspended from the institution in October last year following a two-day students unrest. The institution has however dismissed the claims, saying the suspension was not politically motivated but was triggered by the student’s breach of the students’ code of conduct and the Kenyan Constitution 2010.
