Transport on the Naivasha-Nairobi highway was momentarily disrupted yesterday as police engaged thugs in a shootout.
The thugs had reportedly hijacked a Narok Shuttle Sacco matatu and were en route to Naivasha when they were cornered.
Trouble started after the driver of the matatu was ordered to stop along the Abaderes and the thugs commandeered it before robbing the passengers.
A victim, James Njihia, said the frightened passengers were dumped in the forest as the thugs drove towards Naivasha.
Njihia said a motorist passing on the same road saw the passengers and offered to help and police were notified.
