A dispute over compensation has stalled a water supply project that was initiated over a year ago. Residents of Masaba North in Nyamira County will now wait longer before drinking piped water from the Sh3.5 billion Nyangori water project.
People on whose parcels of land supply pipes were to be laid have protested over what they termed as selective compensation. According to Governor John Nyagarama, the conflict may lead to withdrawal of funding for the water project.
The scheme is being funded by the African Development Bank. More than 100 farmers claim their crops were destroyed.
