The teachers' medical scheme rolled out last year has been commendable.
Despite facing a lot of resistance in its initial stages, the scheme has for the time it has been in force proved its worth, with thousands of teachers and their families under the cover benefiting immensely.
The scheme has seen the teachers, for the first time in many years, access quality health-care services in some of the high-cost and best health facilities across the country.
Gone are the days when teachers would strain, under frustration, trying to get medical attention in health facilities ill-equipped and whose staff were demotivated to work.
Any teacher who has undergone any procedure that requires specialised care, will attest to the fact that the stresses of clearing huge medical bills there after, are no longer there.
