Nairobi, Kenya: The Nairobi County Government has distanced itself from a video clip being circulated on social media showing a disabled woman being molested by the County authorities.
County Secretary Dr Robert Ayisi yesterday said the video clip was captured in 2010, and is being used to spread propaganda.
"I would like to urge all peace loving residents especially the media and bloggers to desist from spreading malicious and unconfirmed rumours and videos without clarifying with the concerned parties," said Dr Ayisi.
He said the incident happened during the Nairobi City Council era, long before Dr Evans Kidero took over office as Governor of Nairobi.
"While we condemn use of violence in resolving issues, we would like to make it clear that this is an incident that took place when a group of People Living with Disability demanded to see then President Mwai Kibaki at State House," he added.

Dr Ayisi refuted claims that the County Government is targeting Persons With Disability (PWD) saying those spreading rumours should be made to face the law.
Since the video was released on social media, there has been an outcry from the public with over one Million Kenyans expressing dissatisfaction with the way authorities handled the woman.
