Deaths caused by illicit brews have escalated in the recent past. The question the majority keep asking is whether Kenyans cannot draw lessons from past experiences.

A recent report about a man who succumbed after consuming an illicit brew calls for more intervention measures by the Government.

It is unfortunate that some of those who die after taking such brews are the breadwinners who leave their families in poverty.

The recent death in Laikipia reveals that brewers bribe police officers to be allowed to continue with their business. The Government should crack the whip on this vice to prevent more deaths.
