The Anti-Counterfeit Agency (ACA) in Mombasa has seized four million fake razor blades illegally manufactured in Tanzania and sold as contraband in Mombasa and Kwale.
Also seized were tonnes of falsely marked Mumias Sugar, cigarettes and JIK detergent, according to officials who said yesterday that four people who were not named were detained on suspicion of operating a multi-million shilling cross border smuggling between Kenya and Tanzania.
Yesterday, coast region ACA officer Bule Ibrahim announced the seizure and warned that the contra-bands are sold to unsuspecting customers.
“We have arrested four people who have been supplying the counterfeits in Mombasa and Kwale and we will arraign them in court once we have concluded investigations,” said Bule.
