Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Chemelil Sugar has put in place a number of reforms aimed at improving the players’ and technical bench’s welfare.
The reforms, which include improving the players’ perks, will also see the club bolster their squad by beginning a massive player recruitment from January 5.
According to the club’s executive management committee, the changes the club will enhance contractual terms for existing players and new signings in addition to improving monthly perks for the playing unit and the technical bench.
Club chairman Robert Nyakundi, said the team’s executive management committee has recommended the improvement of all players’ contractual payment terms especially their monthly perks.
Nyakundi, however, said the improved monthly perks will be based on individual player performance, appraisal and years of service.
This was disclosed during a luncheon hosted by sponsors Chemelil Sugar Company in honour of the club’s 2014 KPL Player of The Year winners. Chemelil tactician Mike Mururi, emerged Coach of The Year with his players Hamisi Mwinyi and Jairus Adira, emerging Fair Player of The Year and Goal Keeper of The Year respectively.
REMARKABLE PERFORMANCE
During the event, Chemelil Sugar Company Managing Director Charles Owelle, who is also team patron, said the team’s remarkable performance during the 2014 KPL season enhanced the company’s corporate image.
Chemelil Sugar FC finished fifth in the 16-team log with 48 points during the 2014 season.
Owelle, however, warned the club’s players to be wary of other KPL clubs that may be out to sign them only to put them on the bench and waste their chances of improving their football careers.
During the luncheon attended by the firm’s heads of departments; Joseph Omondi (Finance), Raphael Kamemba (Factory), Titus Koech (Marketing) acting Head of Human Resource Moffat Omondi and Quality Assurance Manager Jacqueline Kotonya, Owelle reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting the club.
Coach Mururi said the two-weeks trials will be intensive and rigorous in a bid to recruit the best talent ahead of the 2015 KPL season kick off.
