Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga will burry his wife and nephew on Wednesday next week.
Grace Wairimu Nyambere and Dickson Mwangi will be buried six months after a fatal attack in which five people were killed.
Speaking Saturday in his home in Karen, Nairobi, Njenga said funeral arrangements have been done and the deceased will be buried in his home in Nyahururu.
“I’m happy we have made all the funeral arrangements and the burial is set to take place on Wednesday next week in my father’s home,” said Njenga. “The only problem is to settle the hospital bill, which has accumulated due to the delay. I would like anybody willing to come to my support to do so.”
Njenga also asked those who wish to attend the burial to maintain peace.
He said security has been beefed up in the area and the ceremony will gather people from all walks of life. The former Mungiki leader said the burial was delayed because he was sick and did not want it to be done shoddily.
“I was sick and we could not go on with the burial plans but I am well now and we can bury my dear ones,” he said.
The burial was initially to take place in Njenga’s Kitengela home in June but was postponed after local residents opposed it.
Njenga also welcomed the ICC’s move to withdraw President Uhuru Kenyatta’s post-election violence.
“I’m very happy the President has been set free. It is a relief for Kenya and for me because I was accused of giving out money so that the President is taken to The Hague,” he said.
