Kenya: National University Students’ Organisation (NUSO) has joined calls by CORD leaders to have the Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) disbanded.
NUSO leaders told the press in Eldoret that IEBC must be disbanded over failure to effectively conduct the 2013 general elections.
NUSO convener Nakhanie Akadima said it is wise for IEBC commissioners to be relinquished of their duties if the concept of democracy is to retain its significance.
“Kenya is a democratic State and needs to live to that stature by observing fair election of national leaders. IEBC commissioners failed to achieve credibility while conducting last year’s elections,” he stated.

NUSO chairperson George Bush asked all national leaders who subscribe to the philosophy of democracy to back the opposition and help disband the commission.
Bush, who referred to IEBC as a robot electoral body, said the commission’s officials acknowledged there was some errors during polls which form basis their disbandment.
