Kitui, Kenya;  A section of Kitui leaders have cautioned Kitui Senator David Musila against defending Governor Julius Malombe, who they say is facing “imminent impeachment”.

Led by National Assembly Minority leader Francis Nyenze and a local politician Militonic Mwendwa alias Kitute, the leaders said it is in bad taste and demeaning to Kitui residents for Musila to try and shield Malombe, who has severally been accused of inept leadership.

Mr Nyenze said Malombe has so far proved to be incompetent, adding that they will gang up as Wiper party leaders to dislodge him from the party.

“The governor has proved to be clueless on almost everything, his arrogance is unrivaled and his failure to consult other elected leaders is a disgrace to Kitui people and the party. He must leave office,” Nyenze said.

The Kitui West MP added that Malombe does not listen to advice from other leaders on how to run the county and this has proven to be his greatest undoing.

Meanwhile, Kitute told Musila to respect the electorate’s wishes.

“Musila ought to support the MCAs who are clamouring for sound leadership. If he goes on like this, he too will be sidelined,” Kitute said.

The senator had at the weekend denounced the move to remove the governor from office, saying the proponents of such plans are petty and misguided politicians.

Musila insisted that Malombe was in office to stay and advised the governor to ignore ‘unnecessary noise’.
