West Pokot , Kenya: Two Administration Police officers attached to Makutano police station in West Pokot County escaped the wrath of an angry mob after they allegedly demanded a bribe from a boda boda operator.
According to witnesses, one of the officers flagged down the motorbike operator and asked for a bribe from the rider who was not wearing a reflector jacket and lacked required documentation.
The boda boda is said to have parted with Sh1,000 but he later mobilised his colleagues to demand the money back.
A group of angry boda boda riders then trailed the officer to a nearby pub after word went round that he was at a drinking joint in the company of his colleague.

On requesting that the officer returns the money, the riders faced resistance occasioning a feud that led to a fight, according to one of the operators.
“A bigger crowd was pooled to the scene as the irate mob overpowered the two officers who were in plain clothes. One of the officers took to his heels to save his life,” said a witness.
