Briton dies after attack by suspected thugs

KENYA: A Briton and director of an investment company was murdered in cold blood in a robbery at his home in Laikipia, Kenya.

Police said David Parkinson died out of bleeding after he was attacked by suspected thugs who were demanding money from him on Saturday night.

Parkinson has been the Director, Eastern Unit at Laikipia Wildlife Forum, General Manager at Lolldaiga Hills Limited and Director at Laikipia Mangement Solutions.

He also served as Deputy Director at Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and Lieutenant Colonel at British Army.

Interior Principal Secretary Mutea Iringo confirmed the death of the businessman adding police are investigating the murder.

 “The Government has assured investors that it will provide security to them. This follows the murder of Lakipia businessman David Parkinson,” he said on his Twitter handle.

Iringo said Parkinson was cut in one of his hands before he bled to death.

Details of the attack were not available even as more detectives were sent to the area to pursue the incident.

Iringo added three people killed in fresh skirmishes between the Borana and Gabra communities in Moyale.

The PS said administration and regular police have been dispatched to the area to quell the skirmishes that have rocked the area.

“Security has been beefed up in Antut village in Moyale following skirmishes that left three people dead,” the ministry said.
