Bomet, Kenya: Shock gripped Chanchego Village in Bomet County after an Administration Police Officer set his house on fire killing his two children to death over a domestic row.
The officer based at an AP camp in Baragoi stood guard armed with crude weapons and barred villagers from saving the children who were screaming in the inferno during the Tuesday night tragedy.
According to a witness Raymond Rotich, the allegedly drunk officer who was on a two-week-leave sprinkled petrol around the wooden house before setting it on fire.
He said the officer’s wife and two other children escaped by a whisker after discovering the man’s intention.

“As we were passing by, we overheard commotions and screams emanating from the homestead and within minutes the house was up in flames,’’ he said
“The neighbors’ efforts to save the situation were unsuccessful as the officer whom we suspected to be armed chased us away.," said Rotich.
