Asbel Kiprop and Eunice Sum have won two gold medals for Kenya in both men’s 1500m and 800m women finals respectively in IAAF World Championships in Moscow, Russia.
Kiprop defended his title he won at the 2008 Summer Olympics in a time of 3:36.28. Matthew Centrowitz of the United States bagged silver and Johan Cronje of South Africa took the bronze.
Sum won in 1:57.38 while Savinova, who was also the defending championtook silver in a time of 1:57.80. Brenda Martinez of the United States took bronze in 1:57.91.
Other Kenyans, Nixon Chepseba and Silas Kiplagat in the 1500m failed to make a podium finish despite an impressive start. Chepseba came fourth while Kiplagat secured sixth position.
