NAIROBI, KENYA: Consumers will pay less for fuel in the next one month ending May 14 following price review of various fuel products by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC)
According to the new prices, consumers in Nairobi will pay sh 4 less for Kerosene per liter, diesel decreases by sh 0.93 per liter while that of super petrol decreases marginally by sh 0.04 per liter.
Kaburu Mwirichia, The Director General of Energy Regulatory Commission in a statement to the news room said the maximum prices of other towns have been adjusted accordingly.
“We expect retailers to use new fuel prices effective midnight Sunday, we wish to remind all marketers that it is offense to sell petroleum products above the maximum prices published by the commission,” he said.
He noted that the adjustment was in tandem with prevailing business environment and consumers should be vigilant to report any retailer selling above the set prices.
Prior this adjustment, state owned Oil marketer (National oil) had reduced the price of diesel across all retail outlets by Sh2.
The move follows an attempt by the State oil firm to increase sales as well as fulfill its mandate of stabilizing the price of petroleum products.
With the discount, Nock outlets will now sell diesel at Sh105.30 in Nairobi down from the maximum price of Sh107.37 set by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
In a statement, Nock said the prices for other towns have been adjusted. It said the new pricing took effect yesterday and will be in place until ERC issues its new price-capping guide on April 14.
