As a rule, experienced Casanovas conduct their business in venues that provide the highest level of discretion. Little wonder that when a greenhorn in Migori town overlooked that cardinal rule, he suffered severe consequences.
When the man in question, a casual labourer at a construction firm, received his weekly wage, he decided to take his clandestine lover out for a shopping spree.
The young woman of uncommon beauty did not let him down for she made herself available in time as they had agreed. They strolled to a nearby popular supermarket at the shopping centre and started picking items that she had fancied but couldn’t afford.
But while the two lovebirds were engrossed in shopping as they smiled at each other shyly, someone spotted them and informed the man’s wife.
The man’s wife, an avocado vendor at the town, upon receiving the disturbing news abandoned her wares and made a quick dash to the supermarket, arriving just when her husband had just paid for the goods and was walking out.
Without a second thought, she snatched away plastic bag with the shopping, which the two lovers were dangling between them, and put it a side. Standing hands akimbo, she huffed and puffed in readiness for combat.
“It is either you finish me today or I finish you,” she bellowed and smacked her rival hard right across the face as husband stood speechless, with no idea who to defend between the two.
Mercy
Wild war cries immediately erupted as the two went for each other, causing people to mill around the scene inquiring what was going on.
This writer had to suspend activities he was engaged in at the time to rush and have a peek, too.
Interestingly, the accused woman felt guilty. She could not fight back but only begged for mercy as the cheering and jeering crowd taunted her for having snatched someone’s husband.
But she blamed the man, accusing him of lying to her that she was the only woman in his life since he had separated with his wife.
As she pleaded with the crowd and her rival to spare her, she revealed that the man had even promised to marry later this year.
By then, the man, after noticing that things were getting knotty and about to spill out of hand, had vanished into the thin air, without bothering to deny or confirm the charges levelled against him.
The cheeky onlookers, meanwhile, kept chiding the man’s wife to pick a few dressing tips from her competitor, claiming that beating her up alone was not a solution.
They advised her to ditch her shady dressing style and adopt a more trendy and fashionable dress code, and spruce up, saying that could have been one of the main reasons her husband preferred the mistress to her.
But after she had given her rival an earful, she sternly warned her to keep away from her husband before picking up the shopping bag and briskly walking away with it.
