Karangu Muraya has publicly apologised to his followers for his earlier endorsement of the Social Health Authority (SHA), following a wave of backlash.
He expressed regret over comments he made praising SHA, which had covered a significant medical bill for his brother, Paul, after a road accident earlier this year.
His initial support for SHA stemmed from gratitude when the agency assisted with Paul’s hospital expenses, a relief he shared with excitement in previous statements.
However, the endorsement drew hundreds of insults and criticism to his inbox, prompting the artist to clarify his intentions.
“If my sentiments offended you, please find a place in your heart to forgive me.”
In his post, he also sought prayers for his brother, who has been bedridden since February following the accident.
“Your forgiveness will make my brother… recover, please forgive us and help me to pray for him,” he pleaded, invoking a biblical reference from James 5:16: “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.”
He concluded with a personal prayer, “Paul Muraya, may Jehovah Rapha heal you bro.”
This is not the first time the musician-cum-philanthropist has faced problems with his fans.
In May, he was heckled and chased by irate locals, an incident many linked to his recent visit to the Deputy Presidents home in Karen and supporting the government.
Angry residents, many recording the dramatic moment with their smartphones, while others shouted unprintable remarks, blocked him from entering his vehicle. Police officers intervened quickly, opening the car door to help Karangu board their vehicle.
