Eight people died on the spot in a grisly road accident near Makindu after an Akamba bus rammed into an oil tanker along the Nairobi - Mombasa highway.
The bus heading to Mombasa collided with tanker carrying paraffin. Among those that died are six women, a man and child. According to police reports 33 were injured and have been taken to Makindu Hospital for treatment.
The tanker’s driver and turnboy fled the scene after the early Sunday morning accident.
