Defending champions Kenya Police won the fourth leg of the National Boxing League at Nanyuki Social Hall, over the weekend.

The policemen accummulated a total of 24 points to emerge victorious and are poised to retain the title when the final leg is held in Kisumu from November 21-23.

Kibra Boxing Club finished runner-up with 15 points ahead of former champions Kenya Defence Forces, who had 13 points to finish within the medal bracket.

Kisumu, Laikipia and Nairobi Counties tied in fourth with three points each in the penultimate leg of the league championships.

Former champions Kenya Prisons and Nakuru Boxing Club did not take part in the championships.

Thika, who had two  points ahead of Githurai 44, finished seventh.

Dallas Muthurwa, Meru, Kenyatta National Hospital, Busia, Vihiga and Mombasa counties all had one point each.

Siaya and Trans Nzoia counties finished at the bottom of the table with no point in the three-day tournament.

The policemen won the league championships after placing four boxers in the finals, where three won their respective bouts.

The policemen, who won their bouts were light flyweight Martin Maina, bantamweight Martin Oduor and middleweight George Cosby. [Ben Ahenda]
