Riara University Queens beat Mount Kenya University (MKU) Thika campus 64-42 in the Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) women's league at Railways Club in Nairobi on Sunday.
Elsie Kamboshe and Caroline Njeri contributed to Riara's 19 points and 17 points respectively during the match, while Anne Lukongo and Maryanne Wanjiku bagged 12 and 15 points respectively for MKU's losing effort.
Parklands Arya escaped with a narrow 51-50 win against determined Africa Nazarene University (ANU). Arya were lifted by Melvin Iminza who posted 13 points and Ledisha Jelimo who hit 10. Purity Shelly and Pauline Kariuki hit 13 points apiece for ANU.
Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Juja Campus cruised over Kayole Queens with 38-31 victory. During the tie, Priscah Wandahi contributed 11 points for the students. Kayole Queens had seven points from Abigael Warjim.
But JKUAT, Nairobi campus lost 63-37 to Allstars in the NBA Eastern Conference men's league. Jeff Muhui and Jerry Kutoto contributed 13 points apiece for Allstars while Lucas Orimba had ten for JKUAT.
Catholic University of Eastern Africa hit Tazmanians 47-34 with great help from Fred Shitemi who netted 11 points. Technical University of Kenya (TUK) defeated Tazmanians 41-31.
Hosts Upper Hill School halted Lycans winning ways with a 49-38 victory in their backyard. Deng Garang' shot 23 points as Nyok Kol bagged 14 points for the students. The losers had 23 from Davies Matunda.
In their second match, Upper Hill beat Old Pirates 60-46. "We had set out our minds to win this weekend and we are glad to have realised the vital four points, we promise to do the same this coming weekend," said Garang at the weekend.
Pandas stopped Feba 56-36 while Woodley Knights thrashed Upper Kings 55-20.
Lucy Mbithe and Rebecca Nkatha led Zetech University to hit United States International University (USIU) 48-35. Mbithe had ten while Nkatha 13 points during the encounter.
In the NBA Western Conference Men's league, Kenya Methodist University (Kemu) hit Machakos Hawks 60-43, Saints clobbered Multi Media University (MMU) 42-29 while Daystar University dismissed JKUAT Karen campus 63-52. But Kemu later lost 61-60 to Legacy as MKU, Nairobi Campus defeated Our Lady Queen of Peace 52-40 while hit MMU 49-23. Zetech University later beat JKUAT Karen 52-40.
