Baringo, Kenya: Tension is high at Tuiyobei in Baringo county after hundreds of youths from the Endrois community invaded a 1200 acre piece of land claiming ownership.
The youths who came from Mochongoi area claimed that the disputed piece of land had been grabbed by prominent politicians from the area.
Travelling in groups, the youths estimated to be over 700 subdivided the land amongst themselves, shocked area residents were forced to scamper for safety at Tuiyobei trading center.
A contingent of over 60 police officers led by Marigat OCPD Otulia Kaunya immediately moved in to provide security in the region.

According to the youths spokesman Mr Paul Chepsoi, the disgrantaled youths actions was to prevent the politicians from selling it. This follows rumours that the land was intended to be disposed off to a private developer, claimimng that the land was allocated to them by former President Daniel Moi .
