Ford Kenya Kakamega branch officials want former Senator Boni Khalwale expelled from the party.

They accused Dr Khalwale of working with Deputy President William Ruto without consulting them.

The officials threatened to ditch the party if Khalwaleis not expelled.

In a press briefing on Monday, the officials led by branch Secretary General Bernard Makokha gave the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) a 14-day ultimatum to have Khalwale expelled.

"Disciplinary action must be taken against him for working with Ruto and bringing disgruntlement among us (Kakamega branch officials) for personal gain,” said Mr Makokha.

“The party must come clean on whether they have sent Khalwale to work with Ruto at the expense of Ford Kenya's popularity in the region.”

Makokha also said Khalwale, who is the party deputy chairman, should desist from giving press statements on behalf of the party since he was unwanted.

Khalwale, however, hit back at the officials, saying they are opportunists who should follow the right party procedures if they want to kick him out.

In the last General Election, Khalwale vied against Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and lost. He has now endorsed Ruto for the presidency in 2022.
