A former employee of a nominated senator has moved to court seeking her arrest over alleged assault.

Annette Oyuga yesterday instituted private prosecution against controversial Jubilee nominated Senator Joy Gwendo, citing police inaction in charging the politician for the assault said to have taken place five months ago.

"I reported the matter at Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) Police Station, but no action was taken," said Ms Oyuga, a former secretary to Senator Gwendo, in court documents.

Through her lawyer Alice Oeri, she claims the senator has continued to harass and intimidate her.

Ms Oyuga said her lawyer had written to the Director of Private Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko and the Director of Criminal Investigations Ndegwa Muhoro, complaining about the delay in prosecution of Ms Gwendo over the alleged assault.

She claims failure to prosecute the senator is motivated by her standing in society and wants KICC Police Station OCS compelled to arrest the senator and produce her in court to face charges.
