Two police officers were injured in a confrontation with a rowdy mob in Kibera.
Police say the mob attacked the officers as they patrolled a railway line and another group drove inside the slum on Monday night.
The injured officers are admitted in hospital and it is not clear what provoked the clash. Police shot in the air to disperse the group of the attackers who escaped on foot.
Police say cases of disturbances have been on the rise in the slum in the past month. Police say they are experiencing difficulties in patrolling the area due to confrontations from groups in the area some of whom are armed.
Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome said they are engaging local leaders to ensure there is good relationship between them.
"There seem to be uncalled for bad blood between us and the locals but we are engaging local leaders to solve any such differences," said Koome.
And three suspected thugs were killed in separate robbery incidents in Nairobi.
One was killed Tuesday night by police in a botched robbery incident in Kayole, Nairobi.
According to police, the suspect and three others had tried to break into an Mpesa shop when an alarm was raised.
Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome said officers who were on patrol in the area responded to the scene and managed to kill one suspect while his three accomplices escaped on foot.
The body was moved to the mortuary. Police recovered a pistol that had four bullets from the slain man.
Another was felled by police bullets in Tena estate in a botched robbery. Police say a gang had been attacking and robbing other motorists when an alarm was raised.
A bunch of master keys that the men are believed to have been using in breaking into cars was found on him. His accomplices managed to escape on foot, Koome said.
Koome added the men have been linked to a series of other breaking in incidents in the area where cars were also stolen. The body was moved to the mortuary.
Another suspect was killed along Kangundo Road after he and two others had stolen goats from a home in Kamulu area. Police say they recovered the animals and a pistol from the man while his accomplices were arrested.
Cases of armed robberies of private cars have been on the rise in the area and with the recovery of the breaking in materials police believe it would help address the issue.
In Mukuru slums, Nairobi, police are looking for a man who killed another one in an argument at a bar.
The deceased died after being hit in the head with a blunt object after an argument at the bar's pool table over payment of a bet that had been agreed on. The assailant escaped on foot and efforts to trace him are ongoing.
In Kayole, a man was lynched in a botched robbery incident in the area. Cases of mob lynching are on the rise in Nairobi with police discouraging against the killings terming them illegal. The body was moved to the mortuary.
