Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has written to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to investigate hate speech claims against political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi.

In the letter, LSK Chief Executive Officer Apollo Mboya alleged Mr Ngunyi's Twitter page contains statements and comments that incite and target a specific community.

"The tweets target some members as lacking individuality and being in a state of mental slavery, assertions that are not only false but may as well constitute as hate speech to a community of which I'm a member," he said.

Mr Mboya asked NCIC to probe Ngunyi and make recommendations to the Director of Public Prosecutions, with a view to charge him with contravention of the NCIC Act.

"The words uttered by Ngunyi are intended to incite feelings of contempt, hatred, hostility, violence and or discrimination against a community on basis of ethnicity, he said.
