Nakuru, Kenya: Three people died on the spot while one is nursing injuries at the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital in Nakuru after being involved in a tragic road accident at Migaa area near Salgaa along Nakuru Eldoret highway.

The accident involved a Mercedes Benz that was headed for Eldoret, a parastatal vehicle headed to the same route and a trailer that was transporting soya beans from Busia town to Nairobi.

Rongai police boss Joseph Mwamburi said two people, who were traveling in the parastatal vehicle and driver of the trailer died on spot while his co-driver sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital.

Mwamburi said the trailer lost control on reaching the scene of accident and collided with the pick-up killing the three people on spot.

He said the parastatal vehicle later hit the Mercedes Benz that had two occupants but escaped unhurt.

"The brakes of the trailer failed and it collided with the parastatal pick up killing three people," said Mwamburi.

However, he said number of road accidents and deaths reported along the stretch have reduced since erection of bumps and other road signs.
