Mada Hotels has bought 52 roomed Hunters Lodge in Kiboko, Makindu area. Mada Hotels Group Marketing Manager, Betty Olwenyi, said the property built in 1958 by Kenya’s safari enthusiast, JA Hunter has been restored to its former glory following the acquisition by Mada Hotels.
The lodge is bliss for birdwatchers with over 100 species inhabiting its proximity. “It has always been a well-known stop over on the road from Nairobi to Mombasa. It is known for its reasonable prices for accommodation and camping,” she said.
The property, Ms Olwenyi said has been modernised and expanded to bring it into line with the standards set by the Mada Group. The new owners renovated and enlarged existing 12 rooms and added 40 others. The lodge also features a new conference facility. “In carrying out this renovation, Mada Hotels has ensured it preserves the original charm of Hunters Lodge,” she said.
Mada Hotels Chief Executive, Tinu Mhajan, said the Hotel chain is keen to expand its footprint to the spicy Indian Ocean island of Zanzibar with the construction of a new hotel on the isles north Coast.
