It is Easter and you would expect Kenyans to act holy. But that is not the case. A recent research by Google that checks quarterly trends paints a naughty picture.

As Easter was approaching, the most frequented places were dating sites as people looked for soul mates to spend the holiday with.

The sites that were mostly visited include: Afro Introductions, Cloud Romance and Date Club.

With holiday romance also comes ‘holiday sins’ and that explains why people are also interested in emergency birth control pills.

A significant number of people sought Google to find out more about Postinor 2, which is the most abused morning after pill common.

Apparently, a recent study showed that Postinor 2 is mostly sold off on Fridays and weekends when people indulge in promiscuous sex.

In search of love

Other telling issues that were widely searched on Google as Easter nears are safe days, abortion, masturbation, pregnancy, baby girl names and rape.

And guess who is the most searched Kenyan personality other than the now global queen Lupita Nyong’o? Did you say Emmy Kosgei? Well, she has been toppled by one Vera Sidika.

Who is Vera Sidika? For the old school like me, Vera is the sensational socialite who gained popularity after she featured in P-Unit’s You Guy video. Controversial gospel musician Willy Paul came second in among the local Kenyan personalities most searched on Google.

On the international scene, the most searched personalities are Rihanna, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Diamond, Beyonce and Barcelona FC superstar Lionel Messi.

Interestingly, one month after we celebrated Valentine’s Day, people are still searching for love.

Love matters topped the most searched items under love and relationships category with many Internet users looking for love quotes, love messages, love poems, love tips, love calculator and how to kiss.

On the academic front, interest in higher institutions of learning heightened soon after the announcement of KCSE 2013 results in March.

A significant number of Kenyans went were going online to search for public and private universities as well as parastatals that deal with education.
