Kerugoya, Kenya: A clerical officer at the judiciary and his three family members were killed in an attack in their home in Keruguoya Town on the night of Jamhuri Day.

Police say Cedrick Kinyua, 33, and his wife and children were attacked by unkwon assailants while asleep at Miringa-iri estate.

Kinyua, his wife and two children aged 10 and six years had their heads smashed with a jembe , according to the Kirinyaga County Police Commander Christine Mutua.

Mutua said a neighbor to the deceased  reported the matter after he found the door of the family wide open and some clothes scattered outside.

She added that they had not established the identity of the attackers or their motive.

The police commander said some household goods including a television set were stolen during the Thursday night incident.

“We are waiting for our colleagues from Embu to come and take pictures of the crime scene before we move the bodies to mortuary for post mortem examination”, she said.

George Kagori , a nominated county representative who resides within the area, said he was concerned with the rising cases of murder .

He urged police to leave no stone unturned during investigations and bring the culprits to book terming the murders as beastly.
