NAKURU, KENYA:The high court in Nakuru has dismissed petition challenging the election of Narok East MP Lemanken Aramat and declared his election free and fair.
Justice Anyara Emukule while dismissing an election petition by Harun Lempaka ruled that the election was fair and the will of the people of Narok east had been expressed.
“I find no merit and dismiss the election petition with costs to the respondents. Aramat was validly elected as MP Narok east,” he ruled.
Emukule threw out the petition by Lempaka where he had asked the court to order for vote recount and scrutiny citing non-compliance of electoral laws, lack of transparency and manipulation of election results.
In his decision, Emukule ruled that the allegations that the votes were manipulated had not been proved to the required standards by the petitioner.
While seeking for recount, Lempaka through his lawyer Kibe Mungai had asked the court to order for recount since small margin between him and Aramat was as a result of alterations of the results.
However, Emukule ruled said that despite the margin of 441 votes between two closest contenders the alterations were not proved in court.
