Nairobi, Kenya: At least 30 houses were torched on Friday night following a clash between two rival gangs in Nairobi’s Mathare slum.

Anti-riot police were deployed to the area to beef up security.

Nairobi PPO Moses Ombati said the incident followed an arson attack early this week in which three people were killed.

One of those who died in the arson attack was a man who was accused by a gang operating in the area of being a police informer.

On Friday night, a rival gang raided a section of Mathare in what police say is a retaliatory attack over the killing of the man early this week.

The gang raided houses torching several in the attack.

Police say no one has been arrested and security personnel were patrolling the area.
