Democratic Party (DP) wants the Registrar of Political Parties to shed light on the fate of members of parliament who have defected from the parties that sponsored them.
Party Deputy Secretary General, Dr Njagi Kumantha said the law was clear that one should stay in the party that brought them to parliament or seek a fresh mandate from voters.
Kumantha said DP has MPs who though sponsored by the party, have now become disloyal and they were waiting for the registrar of political parties to make a final decision on the matter.
“We summoned and warned an MP who was elected to parliament on a DP ticket but has been attending meetings of other parties,” said Kumantha.
Kumantha who is also the party’s Embu chairman was speaking after DP met aspirants for Embu county seats using the party’s ticket on Saturday in Embu town.

Meanwhile, Narc Kenya has backed the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) call for de-registering MPs who have quit their political parties.
Speaking to the press in Malaba on Monday, Narc Kenya Executive Director, Daniels Taabu said MPs were violating the constitution by hanging on the seats.
Mr Taabu pointed out that rebel MPs should quit and seek fresh mandate from the electorate adding that the law is very clear about anyone who promotes the ideologies of another party.
Taabu added that he was wondering why the IEBC was seeking further interpretation of the constitution claiming that chapter 14 of the Political Parties Act is self-explanatory.
He called upon the IEBC to enforce the rule of law to curb the culture of political indiscipline.
Busia County Narc Kenya Co-coordinator, Faith Mumo called on the youth not recycle leaders claiming that Kenya has young people who can offer better leadership. She however asked the youth to maintain peace to avoid a recurrence of poll chaos.
