Oscar Obonyo hit the nail on the head in his ‘Why tribal politics just won’t end yet’ article in The Standard on Sunday last week.
It should dawn on us that tribal politics have been detrimental to us. However, the solution lies with us.
We should stop associating leadership with tribal affiliations and rate individuals according to their performance.
We must also understand that tribal chiefs always try to satisfy their insatiable greed.
We should shun them by stopping the habit of taking advantage of our ethnic numbers to install ‘unfit’ individuals into power. Let’s put national interests first.
This way, we will better our politics and unite the country.
