Lukenya Hill venue for the Rob’s Magic Quattro Charge on November 1 has been described as the toughest by the organisers.

The event will be staged at a spectacular new venue, bringing to an end the famous Athi River Portland quarry that has been preferred since 2003. Event director Rob Collinge said the El Nino rains will be a real test between man and machine in the most rugged of terrains.

"The experts section is very tough indeed, I think the toughest we have ever had," Collinge said.

He said the intermediate section would not be too taxing. "The experts will go through slippery rocks and with a bit of rain and water coming down the river course will be fantastic," Collinge added.

Entry to the venue will be Sh500 for adults and Sh250 for children.

Collinge said money raised at the event would trickle down to participants who have entered the 2010 Rhino Charge in order to bolster their kitty. "We anticipate a total prize fund of Sh1 million and expect to raise Sh2 million in the 2009 edition," Collinge said.

With 34 entries confirmed, the expert class has attracted the likes of John Kanyali (Mercedes Unimog), Dominico Robello (Range Rover), Gurmeet Thethy (Range Rover), Ian Duncan and Ben Woodhams (Land Rover).

The intermediate class has the likes of Bob Kaugi, Donald Howard (Land Rover), all-women crew of Tanya Church and Hellen Hansen (Land Cruiser) and Dipak Halai (Land Rover).

The quad bike entries have also been trickling in including the likes of Dilip Dinesh, Tushal Mavji, Mark Kelsal and Crystal Kelsal.
